Synopsis
Arya Permana, an operations manager in Jakarta, lives a seemingly perfect life: a brilliant career, a solid marriage, and prestigious awards. However, deep down, he feels a void that he cannot explain. In an attempt to escape the burdens of life, Arya decides to join a Silk Road tour to Uzbekistan.
This adventure takes a drastic turn when he suffers a serious accident in the Kyzyl-Kum Desert, leaving him trapped in a coma. While lying in a coma at the Khiva hospital, Arya fell into the historical dimension of the 14th century and witnessed the life journey of Sheikh Ibrahim Asmoroqondi, a famous cleric from Samarkand who later became the ancestor of the Wali Songo. Arya witnessed the sheikh's spiritual journey from Samarkand to Champa, continuing on to Palembang, until he finally settled and preached in Tuban.
He witnessed the wisdom, patience, and love that changed many souls, and slowly had an impact on him as well. After Arya woke up back in the modern world, he realized that his life had changed. He struggled to deal with the pressures of a job full of intrigue, repaired his relationship with Sarah, and began to see life in a way guided by the values he had gained from his spiritual experience. He launched the “Samarkand Initiative” educational program and finally made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Sheikh Ibrahim Asmoroqondi in Tuban, marking the end of his spiritual journey.
